    Desmanthus leptolobus TORREY & A.GRAY

Desmanthus leptolobus will normally be smaller than Desmanthus illinoensis and often will be nearly or totally prostrate once past the seedling stage.
Desmanthus illinoensis sometimes sprawls in a partially prostrate fashion but normally grows at least partially erect or semi-erect.
